Texas Urban Area. Let's start with the capital, namely Austin.

The Hill Country Flyer. Steam excursion train runs through Hill Country from Cedar Park to Burnet. Train pulled by Engine No.786, a 75-year-old steam locomotive once displayed in downtown Austin. Ride is 2 hours through scenic countryside. Following short layover in Burnet, it is 2 hours back.

Austin Nature & Science Center. Exhibits of science, natural history and botany. Wonderful hiking, nature trails right in the heart of the city.

When you are in Dallas. Citizens pursue culture with almost as much enthusiasm as business. Any day or night of the year one may choose from a lavish variety of events. Excellent major symphony orchestra and a steady stream of visiting groups: opera and ballet, theatre and musical comedy. Visit flower shows, horse shows, art shows, bird shows, dog shows, and cat shows. Noted for abundant gourmet dining opportunities.

American Museum of the Miniature Arts. Feature collection of dollhouses, miniature room boxes, and vignettes. The dollhouses are of various designs go back to the 180th century. There are also farmhouses with exact scale model furniture, a five-story New York townhouse, and an 1885 Victorian home furnished by 12 interior designers.

Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Garden. A 66-acre haven of natural beauty only minutes from downtown Dallas. Headquarters is in the Camp Estate, designed by Texas's most famous residential architect, John Staub, and completed in 1938.
